Paul Harrison Trio
Saturday 19th September – 19:00 – Corn Exchange, Melrose.ย
After a sold-out concert at the Edinburgh Jazz Festival, here is another chance to hear a unique jazz concert by three outstanding musicians. One of jazz’s artistic milestones was when legendary pianist Keith Jarrett played at the Opera House in Kรถln in 1975. The recording of The Kรถln Concert is the best-selling solo album in jazz history. Now, fifty years on, pianist Paul Harrison pays tribute and reinterprets this masterpiece. The addition of two of the brightest talents of the new generation in Scottish Jazz – BBC Young Jazz Musician winner Brodie Jarvie (bass) and drummer Stephen Henderson (Fergus McCreadie Trio) – promises to bring fresh perspectives and dynamic interplay to this iconic work of piano jazz. Paul Harrison will open the concert with spontaneous improvisations on melodies from the Great American Songbook, in solo piano and trio format.
